Hier sjouwen we omhoog, over een besneeuwde weg.
Here we ascend, over a road full of snow.

 

Het is bewolkt maar er is genoeg te zien. Dit is de vallei van de prachtige uitzichten!
It is cloudy but there is enough to see. This is the valley of the beautyful sights!

 

Zonnestralen strijken over de hellingen.
Sunshine is touching the slopes.

 

Prachtig uitzicht vanaf onze pauzeplek.
Beautiful view from the place where we had lunch.

 

Afdaling naar Bogë, het dorp is beneden al te zien.
Descending to Bogë, the village is seen below.

 

De volgende dag verlaten we Bogë en trekken we in noordelijke richting, er staat een koude wind.
The next day we leave Bogë and go in northern direction, there is a cold wind.

 

We lopen via een fraaie route omhoog.
The route we are taking to ascend is very nice.

 

Boven gekomen bewonderen we het uitzicht.
Arrived above we enjoy the sight.

 

Onderweg komen we iets raadselachtigs tegen: wie heeft deze boom zo toegetakeld? Een wakker geworden beer?
This is a riddle that we came across during our tour: who has attacked this tree? A bear woken up from winter sleep?

 

Het dier is ook hoger in de boom actief. De mensen die we het vragen, zeggen dat het een zwarte specht is.
The animal is also active higher up in the tree. The people we asked told us it is done by the black woodpecker.

 

We genieten van de prachtige uitzichten op de flanken van de Hajla.
The slopes of Hajla are gorgeous, we immensely enjoyed the view.

 

Ergens in de diepte ligt ons doel, het dorp Shkrel.
Somewhere deep below is our goal, village Shkrel.

 

Om daar te komen, moet nog flink worden afgedaald. In Shrkel worden we hartelijk ontvangen door een lokale berggids en zijn vrouw, die in hun pension voor ons een heerlijke maaltijd bereiden. Tevreden rollen we onze bedjes in.
To arrive there we had to do a major descent. In Shkrel we were generously received by the local mountain guide and his wife. They prepared a great meal for us. Very satisfied we rolled into our beds.

 

Als we de volgende ochtend in Shkrel opstaan, schijnt de zon.
When we wake up next morning in Shkrel, the sun is shining.

 

Onze route gaat flink de hoogte in hier, al is het op de foto niet goed te zien. We bereiden ons voor.
Though the photo does not show it, here we are going to ascend rather steeply. We are preparing for that.

 

Hoger op krijgen we weer mooie uitzichten.
Higher up are the beautiful views again.

 

Boven gekomen vergapen we ons aan het landschap.
We admire the white landscape above.

 

De lokale gids die ons de weg wijst, vertelt ons dat hij in dit berggebied is opgegroeid.
The local guide that shows us the way, tells us that he has grown up in this mountain area.

 

We dalen af en pauzeren in dit mooie landschap. Daarna dalen we af in één van die diepe kloven die dit gebied kenmerken.
We descend a have a pause in the beautiful landscape shown on this picture. Further on we descend into one of the deep gorges that are typical for this area.

Lager ligt er niet meer zoveel sneeuw. Hier het bordje langs de weg bij Drelaj, dat ons de weg wijst naar het pad dat naar ons pension Shqiponja voert. Ook daar worden we zeer gastvrij door de familie die het pension exploiteert ontvangen.
Lower there is not so much snow anymore. Here is the signpost along the road near Drelaj, showing the path to our guest house Sqiponja. There we are kindly received by the family that owns the guest house.

Deze dag hebben we een uitdaging: ongeveer 900 meter stijgen om van Drelaj naar de Hajla hut te komen. Op bovenstaande foto het dorpje waar we onderweg langs kwamen.
This is going to be a challenging day: ascending around 900 meters from Drelaj to the Hajla hut. On the photo above a village is shown that we passed when going up.

 

Op bovenstaande foto de onder sneeuw bedolven Hajla hut, waar we drie nachten verbleven en die speciaal voor ons open ging. We hebben diepe bewondering voor de huttenwaard en zijn medewerker, die dat gefikst hebben.
Covered under snow is the Hajla hut, shown on the picture above. We stayed three days in this hut that opened specially for us. We admired the warden and his assistant who fixed that.

 

Twee dagen hebben wij ons buitengewoon vermaakt in het gebied van de Hajla hut.
We thoroughly enjoyed the two days we stayed in the area of the Hajla hut.

 

Midden onder is het gezelschap te zien, dat een toppoging op de Hajla deed. Helaas gestrand, dus andere keer terug komen.
In the middle, under, the group that tried to go to Hajla's summit is seen. Alas, they stranded, so we have to return another time.

 

Een kammetje op Hajla met fraai uitzicht werd wel bereikt.

We liepen langs een kam met uitzicht, waar we mooi de afgrond konden zien waar we twee dagen geleden langs waren gekomen op weg naar de hut. Zie de witte horizontale streep boven op de foto.
The other day we walked along a different ridge, where we could see the abyss we passed two days earlier on our way to the hut. Look at the white horizontal line on the photo.

 

Het wordt tijd afscheid te nemen van de Hajla hut en de gastvrije waard en medewerker Barry.
It is time to say goodby to the Hajla hut and the hospitable warden and assistant Barry.

 

De volgende dag dalen we af naar Reka e Allages, het is bewolkt dus foto's maken is lastiger.
The next day we descend to the village Reka e Allages. It is cloudy, so more difficult to make pictures.

Ons pension ligt laag, veel sneeuw ligt er niet meer, zoals op de foto is te zien.
Our guest house is on lower altitude, there is not much snow left, as is shown on the picture.

 

Dan is het voorbij met de pret: de volgende dag dalen we verder af naar de weg en lopen we naar de hoofdweg die door de Rugova kloof loopt.
Then the fun is over; the next day we descend further, to the road and walk to the main road In the Rugova gorge.

 

Het was een geweldige tocht in een geweldig landschap!
We had a great time in a magnificent landscape!

 

Praktisch / Practical
Dit was een privétocht. We hebben zelf onze vlucht naar Pristina geregeld en hebben een lokale gids ingehuurd via het Albanese berggidsenbureau Zbulo. De Kosovaarse gids haalde ons van het vliegveld op, regelde alle lokale dingen en bracht ons weer terug. Vanwege het steile terrein en het ontbreken van gedetailleerde topokaarten is aan te bevelen van een gids gebruik te maken. Op aanvraag kan een nadere toelichting worden gegeven.
This was a private tour. We arranged the flight to Pristina ourselves and hried a local guide through the Albanian mountainguide agency Zbulo. The Kosovar guide picked us up from the airport, arranged all local matters and took care of our return to the airport. Having a guide is advisable because of the steep slopes and the lack of detailed topographic maps. On request further explanation can be given.
